Why do bosses complain about occupational health? They have a bunch of workers employed to do work for them for eight plus hours a day, spend more time doing this work than with their own families, is their health at work not important? I mean, I have been coughing my guts up, shivering in bed, sweating all night with fever, knowing that calling my boss and saying I can’t come in is just pointless because he will argue with me (I know, but it’s true) and then treat me like rubbish for the next month.
It’s as if, we’re in a recession so our bosses have the right to treat us however they want and blackmail us with the threats of job loss if we don’t agree to be slaves for no benefits. I think they should understand that if they had a better attitude towards their staff and included services such as occupational health, their staff would appreciate them more, get better quicker when they were ill, be more productive in the work place and not have to plot on a full time basis as to how to get out of the job as quickly as possible, as many people I know are doing.
